Acagi was formed in April 2004 and its goal is to change the way visual information is processed.  Using its proprietary technology, Acagi enables images to immediately contain data meaningful to interpretation and exploitation at the collection point, in real time, prior to transmission, editing, and/or storage.  This process allows rapid availability of information to make complex, immediate and far-reaching decisions.
   Acagi’s Image Acquisition and Exploitation Camera System (IAECS) is a self-contained device that supports metadata extraction at the point of video capture, eliminating the need for field crews to physically travel back to a central hub to complete this task. Coupled with increasing on-camera data storage, on-site metadata extraction is a critical component in the ongoing movement of news media towards ubiquitous, real time content gathering and dissemination. In final form factor, the IAECS device will be a palm-sized unit that can retrofit to existing commercial news cameras using standard connector interfaces.  Acagi technology has applications both in the commercial and military markets.

Advanced Product Enterprises LLC (or APE) is a Maryland based biotechnology company involved in the identification, testing, development, and production of biomolecular and molecular biology products for industrial and academic partners. With the provision of services such as antibiotic assessment, cell based assay development, endotoxin testing, and pharmaceutical assessment we assist pharmaceutical companies with their research and development, preclinical testing, and quality control and assurance needs.    Akonni Biosystems Inc, a Maryland based life science company founded in April 2003, develops, manufactures and sells genetic-based diagnostic and disease surveillance solutions for both infectious and human health diseases.
   Akonni's solutions are based on patent-protected gel-drop microarrays and microfluidic Lab-on-a-card technology.  This technology uses precision robotics to place an array of micro-gel-drops within a microfluidic Lab-on-a-card.  Each gel-drop behaves as an individual test tube which yields unprecedented multiplexing capability in a single step with minimal reagent use and liquid handling.  Akonni's integrated microfluidic card approach is far easier to use, cheaper, faster, and more accurate than currently available microarray technologies.
   The system includes a portable reader device and credit-card sized disposable tests onto which a small blood, urine or saliva sample may be placed. The card is then placed in the reader which processes the sample with just a push of a button.  The caregiver is able to print out a clinical result in a fraction of the time over current tests and at a significantly reduced cost. While the underlying microarray and microfluidic technology have been well tested and proven, this is the first time these patented technologies have been combined to produce an integrated diagnostic device capable of performing a battery of complex medical tests at the push of a button, producing definitive results within a few minutes.

   Biaera Technologies, LLC is an innovative aerosol research company, offering automated laboratory systems and services.  Biaera's cornerstone product, the Aerosol Management Platform (AeroMP) is a single hardware and software platform that controls and monitors all aspects of inhalation exposure including; Aerosol generation, Characterization, Sampling, Airflow, System balancing, Environmental parameters (including temperature, humidity, and pressure, Animal respiration and Dose calculation).

By offering various high-quality tissue arrays in a format of single, paired, combined and multiple panels, Cybrdi enables scientists to identify, verify and validate molecules of diagnostic and therapeutic importance. Together with DNA (gene) array technique, tissue microarray technology is a powerful tool for the rapid analysis of molecular targets, discovery and assessment of new therapeutics, and determining prognosis of a disease.

Gahaga Biosciences was founded in 2006 to commercialize a proprietary method for the isolation of stem cells from placental and umbilical tissues to be used in basic research. Gahaga Biosciences intends to provide stem cells to the research and commercial markets. Stem cells are valued as a potential source of a range of types of tissue. Many scientists say embryonic stem cells are generally more versatile than adult cells, although they continue to explore the possibilities of adult stem cells. We believe that, due to their close association with developing embryo and volume of cells recoverable, placental and umbilical stems cells are an ideal model system for conducting basic research on cell differentiation and regulation. Although there is little doubt that stem cell transplantation will be a therapy of the future, Gahaga Biosciences seeks to supply researchers with essential materials to focus on the basic mechanisms of stem cell differentiation - how stem cells make the decision to move from their stem cell state into a more committed phenotype.
