FITCI's Board members are local business leaders or representatives from FITCI's funding sources. It is the mission of the Board to set the strategic direction for the organization, approve the policies of FITCI, and see that our mission is carried out. Board members are elected to serve one to three-year terms.

Gino Aurteri

Senior Director, Business Development, Military Health, General Dynamics Information Technology

Gino Auteri, Colonel, USAF, Retired is a Senior Director for Military Health System and Veterans Administration Business Development with General Dynamics Information Technology.  Gino is a board certified health care administrator with over 30 years of progressive experience at all levels of the Military Health System to include assignments at U.S. and overseas inpatient and outpatient medical facilities, intermediate and corporate headquarters. He has demonstrated capabilities in physician relations, financial performance, strategic planning, team building, human resource management, medical logistics & supply chain management, and contingency healthcare operations.  In his current role, he leads GDIT Healthcare and Civilian Solutions business development efforts for the MHS/VA in the areas of Information Technology, Medical Research and Development, Health Facility Initial Outfitting and Healthcare Administration..

Alex Canizales

CEO, Greenervolts LLC & Projectworks, LLC

Alex is the Chief Executive at GreenerVolts, LLC, a Frederick-based LED lighting technologies company.  Alex has been an entrepreneur since 1998, and has been involved directly in the start-up or growth of four small businesses since then.  His background and experience range from general management and organizational leadership to function-specific expertise in Finance/Accounting, Operations, Information Systems, etc. Alex holds a BS, Cum Laude, Accounting from the Marriott School of Management at Brigham Young University, and an MBA in Marketing and International Business from the University of Miami.

Nick Damoulakis

President, Orases Consulting Coporation

Born with an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for business, Nick has dedicated himself to establishing dynamic, logical and easy-to-use web-based solutions that automate business processes since co-founding Orases nearly 14 years ago. As the Orases executive responsible for IT development, Nick is involved with all Orases clients to ensure that the Orases custom development solutions and marketing strategies are well designed and successfully executed. Nick’s zeal for success has made him a leader in the Frederick community; acting as the President of his church and also participating in several volunteer activities and community programs including the Chamber of Commerce, Tech Frederick and the Frederick Innovative Technology Center. When he isn’t working, Nick spends the remainder of his energy on the tennis court, entertaining friends and playing guitar, but is at his happiest relaxing at home with his wife and children.

Michael Delauter

Mike was born and raised in Frederick County, Maryland.  He attended the University of Maryland for his undergraduate studies and graduated in 1987 Cum Laude, with High Honors in Economics.  He then attended the University of Virginia School of Law and graduated in 1990.   Upon graduation, Mike was employed by Miles & Stockbridge in its Baltimore office as an associate in its tax department.  In 1993, Mike transferred to the Miles & Stockbridge Frederick office where he continued his career as a business and transactional attorney and served as the office managing principal until leaving to form his own firm..

Richard Griffin

Director, Frederick City Office of Economic Development

Richard is the director of the Department of Economic Development for the City of Frederick, Maryland since 2002. An accomplished economic developer and urban planner with 15 years of professional experience, he has worked in economic development and urban planning for city, county, regional, and non-profit organizations – including the Appalachian Council of Governments in Greenville, SC, the City of Seattle, WA, Loudoun County, VA, and the Downtown Frederick Partnership, in Frederick, MD. A veteran, Richard also served in the US Army in Germany with the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment and with the North Carolina Army National Guard.  Richard holds degrees from Western Carolina University and Clemson University. He and his wife Lynne and sons Andrew and Daniel live in the Baker Park community near downtown Frederick.

Ronald Kaese

Director, Federal Programs, MD Technology Development Corporation (TEDCO)

Mr. Kaese came to TEDCO from the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, where he retired after 32 years of government service. He has worked primarily in an R&D environment within the U.S. Army and NASA. While assigned to the NASA Goddard Technology Commercialization Office (TCO) he served as the Acting Chief of TCO. Mr. Kaese’s work experience also includes serving in the U.S. Air Force and working in the COMSAT Labs, U.S. Army Materiel Command and U.S. Army Europe (USAREUR), and the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development, Investment Finance Group. Mr. Kaese has been working in Technology Transfer and Economic Development since 1998.

Michael Kinley

Senior Director, MedImmune

Michael is Senior Director of Manufacturing at MedImmune, overseeing operation of the Manufacturing, Planning and Warehouse departments of the Frederick facility. His career began as a Lab Technician for Cambrex Corporation in Walkersville, Md., after which he joined W.R. Grace and Company as a Technical Associate in Process Development. With eight successful years at W.R. Grace, Michael progressed to MedImmune as a Production Coordinator.  Michael holds a B.S. degree in Natural Science from Indiana University of Pennsylvania as well as an MBA from Frostburg State University in Frostburg, MD.

Helen Propheter

Manager, Frederick County Business Development & Retention Department

Helen Propheter, Manager, Business Development and Retention Department (BDRD), was appointed to the position in February 2012.   Helen began her career with Frederick County Government in May of 1992 with Frederick County Workforce Services.  In October 2007, she was hired by BDRD, where her focus has been the Biotechnology Industry, Fast Track Permitting in Frederick County, Marketing and the Municipalities.  She has over twenty years of experience managing programs and staff and coordinating projects.   Helen serves on the Frederick County Workforce Development Board, is a member of the Maryland Economic Development Association (MEDA), Downtown Frederick Partnership, Downtown Hotel and Conference Center Team, Frederick Regional Higher Education Council, Frederick Community College Emergency Management Advisory Council, the Chamber Public Policy Board, and the International Economic Development Council (IEDC).   She graduated from Mount Saint Mary’s University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology.  Helen lives with her husband and children in New Market.

Don Schiling

Vice President, Ambulatory Services, Frederick Memorial Hospital

Don has a BS degree in Accounting from Mount Saint Mary's College and has his CPA certification. His career started in public accounting but for twenty two years he was involved in the manufacturing of construction products. For the last seven years, Don has been involved in the Occupational Health Industry and Ambulatory Services operations of Frederick Memorial Healthcare Systems. Don is currently an active member of the Carroll Creek Rotary Club and has most recently completed service as a Board Member of the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce for six years – two years as Chairman.

Vaughn Thurman

President, Swift Systems, Inc.

Vaughn Thurman has worked in IT management and technology industries for over 20 years. In 1998, Vaughn founded Swift Systems, Inc., a regional IT services provider headquartered in Maryland. After developing a web-based work tracking system for internal use, Swift’s software engineers went to work on developing a full-featured and scalable task management solution, JobTraQ®, which gave birth to his software company “Swift Software” in 2003. Vaughn is an honor graduate of The Air Force University. Vaughn is also an active member of his church, New Life Foursquare Church, and an active supporter and volunteer for community charities including a local favorite, The Frederick Rescue Mission.

Dr. Jerry VanWinter

Professor of Marketing, Hood College

Jerrold A. Van Winter, Ph.D., assistant professor of marketing, earned a doctorate in marketing from The George Washington University, with a secondary concentration in organization behavior. His areas of interest include international marketing, services marketing and marketing strategy. Van Winter started his career in the telecommunications industry, and later served as first director of marketing and then president of an international computer software company. He currently teaches and consults in both the marketing and management areas.

Eric Wu

Business Unit Controller, Flowserve Corp

Eric is a seasoned financial leader with sixteen years of controllership and financial analytics experiences with multinational industrial and aerospace companies.  His expertise included operational and strategic planning, cost management, process improvement, turnaround and integration.  He is a Certified Management Accountant and Certified Public Accountant, and has Master of Accountancy from University of Oklahoma and M.S in Agricultural Economics from University of Missouri.
